This is Jax's Preschool Chapel Songs. He practiced them ALOT at home! He even tried to teach them to Lawson. He loved his teachers this year as well as his classmates. He took a special liking to Ian (they are standing next to each other). Jax is on the second row kind of in the middle. He has a green and white stripe shirt on with red headphones on the shirt. I know I turned 30 in October. But I've never shared with you the amazing gift my Mom got me. She's been collecting my favorite t-shirts since I was a kid. She cut out all of the images on them and made a quilt. It's funny looking at this picture, because I think it was actually taken when she lived in Alaska and that's Jay in front of the quilt! It means so much to me. I can't wait to do the same for my kids. Thanks, Mom!

Sweet Lawson

Lawson, as many of you know, has had some issues with allergies and his skin. He has a rash that most kids can just get rid of on their own. However, combined with his eczema, he cannot. Therefore, we've been going to the dermatologist to have his 'spots' removed. They burn them off. We have to rush home and give him a bath to get the medicine off. He's very uncomfortable for the rest of the day. We've probably had 100 of them removed since our first session. They were on his neck, face, back, belly and now are on his legs. So ready for this sweet boy to be ALL better. We all pray for his complete healing and agree on it quite regularly. When we say, "Jesus", Lawson says, "Heal Me, AMEN"! This was Lawson after one of his sessions.

Dance Party

OK, blog readers. Few of you as there are this was one of my favorite memories of 2009. When we first started planning Lawson's 2nd birthday party I was thinking along the lines of a fireman party. We live within 200 yards of the neighborhood fire department and Lawson's interest in fire trucks has grown over the past year. However, Wade had a different plan all together (as you can imagine). That began our grand plans for a dance party. Lawson loves music and instruments and yes, dancing.
We decided early on that the basic party invitation wasn't going to do. Given our obvious era for early rap we decided to rewrite Vanilla Ice's, Ice Ice Baby. Below is what we came up with:

Jax is back with his brand new addition,
Lawson! Gotta b-day in December,

So, we invited the cousins to the house and told them to dress up as a rapper, boy band member, or rocker. The result was hilarious. We had a name that tune game, a kiddy mosh pit, and called it Lawson's Double Dip Dance Party. We called it Double Dip because everything that was served could be dipped in one of several dipping sauces. It was a blast and the kids loved.

We ended our time with Lawson's favorite all time song, We Will Rock You by Queen. He loved...so, we loved it.

What the "H"?

Jax has always been quite the "helper". He wants to help with everything. If I'm cooking, he wants to cook. If I'm cleaning, he wants to clean. If Wade's mowing the lawn, he wants to do the same. I think this is a good thing in the long run. For now, it's a bit overwhelming. If I thought my kids could do these tasks, believe me, I would be running quite the sweat shop at my house. I would also be having more kids. To the contrary, they usually just slow down the process.

This particular day I was working on making Harley's bow holder. I had seen them for sale but thought I could make one for much cheaper. Jax, of course, asked if he could help. I said "yes" as usual. He did a great job and the result was spectacular.

Sherry's Magic

Sherry is our uber-amazing babysitter we stumbled upon a few months ago. She's the kind of babysitter that makes you question whether she's better with your kids than you are. When Sherry keeps the kids we always return home to a cleaner house than we left. Some how our kids seem smarter and more polite, our laundry is miraculously folded neatly, and the house smells like soap.
We've recently found out she has yet another amazing gift. She's a photographer. She's taken several shots of the kids so we thought we would share a few of them.

With the onslot of Facebook and Twitter and various other social media outlets I'm afraid we've let our Blog go. We were embarrassed to see that our last post was Halloween of last year. So, we're ready to pick up where we left off. Our lives have moved on but our blog hasn't. We hope to spend the next couple of weeks getting everyone caught up. So, this year all the Self Boys and Lombard Boys were pirates. I realized when I uploaded these pictures that I had Ashley's camera when I took pics. So, I have some good ones on there of all the kids too...maybe I'll post later. We didn't dress Harley as anything...she slept the entire time! Lawson literally ate a sucker for two hours. He just kept trading them out. Jax ran the whole time. I seriously don't think he stopped at all! It was loads of fun. All the boys have so much fun when they're together. And, honestly, its just easy.

Last weekend after my birthday celebration, we dedicated Harley. Jeremy did an excellent job in the chaos. I had to watch the video to know what was said. (I guess that's life now). Lawson was bringing me the lightening McQueen car - as it was making loud noises- the whole ceremony. Harley is truly a little blessing in our life. She's so go with the flow and chill. Dont' get me wrong, she loves to be held a lot. I can't wait to learn more about her personality and see the role she plays in our family. God is so good. He has given us three healthy babies, and for that I will always give him praise. We love you Harley Jane.

Austin Children's Museum

Ashley, the kids and I went to the Austin Children's Museum the other day. It was a lot of fun. The boys loved it. Harley enjoyed herself too - just chilled in the stroller. At one point during the trip, I coulnd't find Lawson. He had made his way back to the drums for the third or fourth time! Jax loved just hanging out with Sam.

Pumpkin Patch 2009

We went to the pumpkin patch in Marble Falls a few weeks ago. It was a blast. Abby, our babysitter, from down the street went with us. The days was beautiful and all the kids had so much fun. A Family Tradition

So, the kids are still at an age where the little stuff can be such a big deal. Wade started last year taking the boys to get donuts on their birthday. We go to the same little shop, Crown Donut, and get donuts and chocolate milk. Lawson put down 10 donut holes. Jax finished off a chocolate milk, a chocolate donut with sprinkles and a couple of donut holes himself. I still can't believe Jax is 3.

A few weeks ago we joined the Freedom Boat Club through an opportunity of using Square Cow services. The Freedom boat club gives us access to a multitude of boats (sailboat, pontoon, sea ray, etc...) on the beautiful Lake Travis. As soon as we joined the boat club I knew we had to do a boat party for Jax's 3rd birthday. That decision lead to a pirate themed party.

Today was the party and we had a blast. We started with a treasure hunt where the kids had to find a hidden treasure chest of candy on the boat (using a treasure map of course). We then gave out the favors which included the pirate hats, hooks, swords, eye patches and buckets. Our favorite pirate addition would have to be the pirate flag that Kimberly whipped together. One side had a smiling skull and crossbones and the other side said "Happy Birthday Jax".

We started the party around 9 am so everyone traveled over to Chik-fil-a for lunch and presents after a few hours on the water. Jax loved every minute of it.

In an effort to help my wife "catch up" on the blogging I've volunteered my services to assist those that keep up with our clan through this site. Now, I'm going to start with an event that I looked forward to for more than 6 months and when it finally came and went I look back knowing that it lived up to all my expectations. That event was our vacation. We made the monumental mistake of skipping the 2008 vacation which put even more pressure on this years week of R&R. Well, the nursery is very much on its way to being done (only 8 weeks past the birth). We had so many wonderful people help us make Harley's room so special. Derrick Skelton, our very talented friend, painted the paintings as a gift for our sweet baby girl. He's fabulous. My Dad and Tammie gave us the bedding (custom made), my mom covered the chair for us, and Donna put it all together including painting the room. I love it. It's not so baby girlie, but its so us. I have some things to add. There isn't much shopping getting done around here with three under three. But, all that will come.

Jax was sitting on the counter in my bathroom while I was getting ready one morning. I had my straightening iron on and was doing my makeup. He completely knows that it is hot, but he touched it anyway. It made a big blister on his thumb. He laid like this in the floor for an hour and a half while watching The Incredibles! He kept wanting me to blow on it, but since there are two other kids in this house, I set up the fan and it blew on it. He was so precious.

Wade continuously reminds me of his job and how hard it is!! Really, he doesn't. But I don't tell him enough how much I appreciate his laborious position. This particular day doesn't look so hard though. They moved a local orthodontist and decided to play with his props! He will come home with some doozy stories sometimes. And we all know how 'stretched' his stories become...I love it!

My Dad and Tammie sent Alexis here for a week prior to their arrival. It was a blast. I had so much fun and it was some of the best quality time I've spent with her in a long time. She was the best help (I was so surprised for a teenager!). Thanks - Alexis. Popi and Gigi came in and was like a whirlwind. They were only here for two days and we made the best of it. We took them to the pool, Zilker Park (of course), Pei Wei, and Mighty Fine. Other than that the kids just got spoiled for the remainder of the time. They loved picking out a toy on the "truck isle" at Wal-Mart. Thanks for loving on my kids for a couple of days! Harley is missing being held all the time!

Roxy, Grandpa Jeff and Jay came to visit for 10 days! It was a blast. Roxy had us busy the entire time. This pic gives a really good description of what our dinners are like most nights. We fully understand that nothing says "we're from Alabama" like letting your kids eat dinner every night shirtless. However, I hope this picture would tell the genius involved in slumping to this standard. Tonight we had pasta. By the end of the dinner I was quite sure that Lawson's mouth had found about 2% of the pasta. After cleaning him up I realized that his hair, cheeks (both kind), nose, chin, neck, legs, armpits, eyebrows found the remaining 98%.

Worth the Wait

Being confined to a hospital room while the world moves at its usual insane pace outside give one a chance to...well...blog. Not something that I typically get to indulge in because I have one of those jobs that keeps me out crazy hours and when I'm in I rarely feel like using my brain...
Given that Kimberly had our first child in 2006 and now our third in 2009 I'm reminded that my wife has been pregnant for 90% of the last 4 years. However, this last pregnancy was special.
First of all, it marked an end to an era for us. God willing we're done having kids! The most interested part of this last horrahh has been our decision to be surprised by the sex of our baby. We didn't set out with this plan to maintain ignorance to the bitter/sweet end. We actually tried to find out the sex around 12 week mark but was told that it was "anatomically impossible". Shortly after that we made a decision to throw caution to the wind. The issue was that Kimberly and I are forever planners, plotters, and goal setters. The "not knowing" almost became unbearable in the last few weeks as Kimberly settled into her heavy nesting phase. Not knowing meant no bedding, clothes, paint colors, toy purchasing, etc...
This would have been tolerable had the pressure to produce a girl in my family not been such an enormous deal. I say this with sarcasm although after 8 straight boys and ending up on the brink of a studly baseball team the pressure was indeed mounting. If we would have found out the sex our entire family could have sat back and relaxed for the last several months knowing that we had finally accomplished what seemed to be the impossible. Kimberly and I, nonetheless, stood our ground.
Fast forward to June 16, 5:08am. When the moment arrived and what emerged was a beautiful, healthy, baby girl Kimberly and I both realized...it was all "worth the wait".

At 5:08am this morning, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 we were blessed to bring Harley Jane Lombard into the world. Deciding that three weeks early was more her style we rushed to the hospital last night at 9:30pm. With only Ashley and Lindsey sharing the moment we deliriously chatted and laughed through the night while Kimberly inched (or "centimetered") closer to push time.

Well, we went our our annual Father's Day boat trip. This year, it was all the siblings and Wayne and Donna. We had a blast for four hours without kiddos. Everyone (except me) tubed and tried to ski. This is Wade tubing. It was a perfect afternoon relaxing and enjoying time on the lake.

Wade took some pics for me this night. He was watching the kiddos while I went to get my hair cut. We recently realized that Lawson is allergic to milk, so we have to modify a lot of our recipes or make something similar for Lawson (He doesn't like it when we are eating something completely different - he totally knows!). I think he enjoyed this particular modification!!! Jax hasn't been loving to eat at all lately. He's gotten really picky about dinner in particular??

These boys are, sometimes, very easily contented. If they could ride their scooter and eat fruit chews for every meal, I think they would be SO happy. We go through so many bags of fruit chews. Lawson could seriously live off of fruit and fruit chews. Also, notice his new kicks. I bought these for Jax, forgot about them. Then, found them just as Lawson was growing out of them! Just my luck. They were cute for a few weeks.

Lawson was playing outside and fell off of Jax's scooter (which he thinks is his). He got a few scratches on his face and busted his lip. He looked so pitiful but he was a trooper with it. Since then, he's probably had two or three more...not sure why? He's tough.

Seven years, three kids (almost) and HAPPY!

Wade and I celebrated seven wonderful years of marriage this month. I have my dream man and am so grateful. As many of you know, Wade is infamous for making these events so special and memorable. We went to a great Austin place downtown called Moonshine. Since our first anniversary he has been following the traditional/contemporary gift list. This year was copper - how hard is that. He killed two birds with one stone. I received an amazing David Yurman initial necklace "L". Then, he counted out 2550 bb's (copper) one for each day we've been married! How creative!! The necklace was not only my anniversary gift but it was my gift for having Lawson. It was the perfect date...thanks, babe. Love you.
I also wanted to update everyone on the pregnancy. I'm 32 weeks along and counting down each day. I have an amazing doctor here in Austin - she's no Dr. Tim Stone, but honestly, is there another one?! We aren't finding out the sex of the baby, so there isn't much planning to be done. We're super excited to know what it is. And we'll happily welcome a boy or a girl as a fantastic addition. I'm swelling like crazy and as the Texas heat sets in, wow...it's going to be a hot two months. It's our last, if all goes as planned, so I'm wanting to enjoy each day. Melmo!

The Hill Country Galleria hosted a Spring Fest last Saturday. It was tons of fun. Free Chapel sponsored the KidZone. AND...Elmo was there. Lawson was in heaven. Jax isn't so much a fan of large costumed anything. He was more interested in running around with his cousins and eating popcorn. Lawson kept wanting to touch Elmo's nose...hilarious. If I could've gotten a picture of Lawson without me in it, I would have. I don't love being photographed at this stage in life! But, I couldn't resist showing you how happy Lawson is!

Easter 2009

Easter was exciting this year. Lawson loved it as well as Jax. It was nice for both of them to enjoy it. We got up did our Easter baskets (hid them and had the boys find them - it's been a tradition in Wade's family to do that). Then, we headed to Free Chapel Austin for an amazing service. There was a great crowd and Jeremy did outstanding. After naps, the Lombard crew along with Jason and Paige Martin went to Lakeway Park for an egg hunt. The boys played for about an hour, then we went to Saltlick. It was such a fun day...lots to do, but tons of fun. At the egg hunt, Lawson just wanted to open all the eggs instead of put them in his basket.

Bubbles

Today the boys received a bunch of Easter treats in the mail from Popi & Gigi, Roxy & Grandpa Jeff. Part of the sugar infested packages were some bubbles. We took some picks of the boys playing with the bubbles in the driveway.

Texas Bluebonnets

If you are like we were a year ago you probably have no idea what a Texas Bluebonnet is or looks like. Well, it's a pretty big deal around here. The further my point, it is literally illegal to pick them. Anyway, our neighborhood had one area that was bluebonnet heaven. We went out and took some pictures of the boys "gleaming in the fields of Boaz"...I mean fields of bluebonnets.

Jax goes to school two days a week which leaves Lawson to love life for just a few hours. He's even happier when Dad comes home to see him. This day Dad and Lawson hung out all morning long. Lawson absolutely love it.

Micah's in the mix

We'll, I'm pretty sure Jax & Lawson's newest cousin Micah has no idea what he's gotten himself into. Jax got to hold Micah and all the boys were playing together. Jax and Lawson love to pretend that the closet is something completely different, ie. the zoo, a school bus, Wal-Mart! They'll close the door and then pretend they need to get out and see the animals! They were letting Parker in on the action this day!

Zilker Park...AGAIN!

It was Spring Break this week in Austin. Jax didn't have school. So, Lisa and I went to Zilker Park to ride the train, play on the playground and have lunch. It was so much. I am very grateful for Lisa and her friendship. We do a lot together and have a blast. The kids love playing together. Keri and Jax are only a month apart while Lawson and Ryan are only four months apart.

Hoppin' House

One of our new favorite places is the Hoppin House in Lakeway. The boys love it! It's just one big room of bounce houses and "the blocks" - which is what some of these pictures are of. I can actually keep up with everyone and not be too stressed while letting them have a good time! Lawson isn't afraid to just fall into the 'blocks' while Sam and Jax love to go down the slide! Gray is all over the place and loves it too!

Big Boy Bed!

Jax is officially transitioning to "Big Boy" title...sleeping in a big boy bed, potty trained (day and night) and soon no paci! I'm so sad. But it makes me excited too because he's so fun to watch him learn everyday. I'm proud of him for doing so well at everything.

Learning to Walk

Lawson has been loving his walker. Now, he even will take it from room to room. He'll get on the floor and play, then decide to play with something else. So, he'll get back up on the walker and head to his next destination! He took five steps the other day, but he still finds that the walker is the easiest route. I'll post pics of him walking later. But, he definitely isn't willing to share this toy with Jax. he loves it!

Aunt Kourtney and Cousin Camden visit Texas!

Kourtney and Camden came to visit us at the beginning of February. We had so mcuh fun! We went to the Lombard favorite park, Zilker. We rode the train, went on lots of wagon rides, went to the park, went to Chuy's and Tiff Treats, and did nothing together. It was the best treat. Jax took to Camden very well always wanting to take care of her. Lawson didn't act as if anything were different. He just enjoyed the extra attention! Baby Camden is beautiful. I stilll pray that just maybe they will all move to Texas!

Baby Micah Mills

Micah Mills was born on January 30 at 9:03 pm. He is a doll and so sweet. I was fortunate enough to be at the hospital when he was born to celebrate his birth. And then we took Jax and Lawson the next day to meet their newest cousin! We're up to 8 boys now!! Lindsey has been doing great. Lindsey went into labor the night we were scheduled to have her baby shower. She was a trooper and waited as long as she could. Thankfully, Micah held out until she got to the hospital! We love you, Micah!

We have been loving living in a house instead of our townhome. It's been a month now. And, it's great! The boys have a playroom. That truly saves my sanity when it comes to the toys! This is how our mornings usually are...with some added tantrums and such. But, I sure am blessed to be able to stay home with my children. Lawson just travels around the train table. And Jax enjoys making you wear things that aren't necessarily for their intended purpose.

Double Quad

The other day Jax discovered the quad in our garage. He hasn't ridden it since we moved to Austin and lived in the townhome. It was a gift from Momma Don and Papa last Christmas. It wasn't long before both Jax and Lawson wanted to burn up the street...at about 1.5 MPH!!!

The BIG day!

Well, what an event it was! Lauren Murray married Philip Garner on Friday, December 19 in St. Simons. It was a blast. Wade and I left the kiddos in TX, drove to Birmingham (12 hours) and had dinner with some friends. Then, we met up with my Dad, Tammie and Alexis. We slept a few hours, met up with Chrissy and Derrick Skelton and drove the 8 hours to Georgia. The rehearsal dinner was in a barn and it was perfect. Voices sang and it was such a chill time to be with friends and celebrate with Lauren and Philip. The wedding was perfect (you can see pics at annaandspencer.blog.com). After the wedding, we drove back to Birmingham. Then, Wade and I had a chill day in Birmingham. We met up with more friends. It was perfect. Thanks for everyone who helped take care of the kids!

We went to "LEGENDS" in Georgia for Lauren's Bachelorette Party. These aren't the greatest pics, but I had to show a few of our bravest getting up to do some karaoke. We all laughed SO much! Lawson's Birthday Party!

We had Lawson's birthday party on the 16th. It was crazy because Wade and I were about to leave for Lauren Murray's wedding, Wayne and Donna were heading into town to keep the boys and Christmas was just a week away! We had so much fun, though. He was cutting some teeth so he wasn't in the greatest of moods. He didn't even eat his favorite food...pizza! He did enjoy the cake below! He wanted to watch the tv instead of opening his gifts. The other boys were glad to help him with that. Happy Birthday Lawson. We wish everyone could have been here to celebrate with us.

Monkey Cake

This is my latest creation! Lawson's one year birthday theme was monkeys. It was a family affair in Austin. But we had a great time. This cake was SO much easier than Jax's train cake. It was by no means perfect but I enjoyed it!
